OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — “We make a living outta what we get. We make a life by what we give.” A favorite Winston Churchill quote used by Nancy Malone of Oklahoma City, and she says it is a good way to describe her friend Teresa Valentin. Teresa works the front desk at the Crossings Community Center and Clinic in northwest Oklahoma City. It’s where people who are uninsured and are 300% below the poverty level can get free health care. It was an idea by the elders of Crossings.

EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) — It’s the teachers at Boulevard Academy, like News 4’s Pay it 4Ward award winner, Nora Self, who take time to make a difference, whether it is in the classroom or any setting that helps her students excel. “These are the kids that need the most love, the most attention to succeed in life,” said Math teacher Nora Self when talking about her passion for helping students at Boulevard Alternative School in Edmond.

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — “I’ve walked some of the same path. I’m recovering myself and have been since 1987. That’s an important piece of this story for me. So, I share that along the way,” said drug and alcohol counselor, John Cullen, of Specialized Outpatient Services, talking about why he helps people break an addiction that’s holding down their lives. One of those people he helped is Joshua Morris of Bethany. Joshua lost his driver’s license after a DUI arrest back in 2009.
