Emergency crews arrived to the scene of a two-vehicle collision in Georgina to find twisted metal and broken glass on Wednesday. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt posted to social media that a car collided into the rear of a pickup truck as it was turning left on Highway 48 north of Ravenshoe Road. Despite the car sustaining considerable damage, Schmidt said the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The area was closed for several hours for the investigation. It reopened later that evening.

Provincial police urge motorists to slow down and drive safe after an officer clocked a vehicle allegedly travelling at an excessive rate of speed in Collingwood. The officer stopped the car on Highway 26 on Wednesday after radar tagged it speeding 167 kilometres per hour in the posted 90 km/h zone, police say. “Stunt driving puts lives at risk,” OPP stated in a social media post about the incident.

A new bylaw banning the sale and private use of fireworks in Wasaga Beach has lit a fuse among residents and business owners, sparking both support and frustration in the beachfront community. Earlier this month, Town council voted to eliminate backyard fireworks and prohibit stores from selling them, citing safety and community well-being. “I disagree. It’s your property. You are paying tremendous amounts of property taxes,” stated resident Dean Robinson.
