    POLK COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A Polk County man says Polk County Sheriff Tim Wright assaulted him after the sheriff came uninvited to his home, a home he now shares with Wright's former wife. The sheriff’s department is disputing the allegations as the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, along with the District Attorney's Office, is now reviewing the case. The man claiming Wright assaulted him is Eric Volmrich, who is married to Brandy Volmrich, who is the sheriff’s former longtime partner.

    BAT CAVE, N.C. (WLOS) — Local excavator and WNC Hero Jake Jarvis has not stopped working in Bat Cave since rounds of rain overnight caused additional mud and landslides. "People are heartbroken. They're stressed," said Jarvis, who has worked on homes, ensuring their foundations remain secure after more erosion. Jarvis had two crews working at seven locations on Tuesday. He estimated up to 15 area slides, largely in areas that experienced landslides from Hurricane Helene.

    ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A Rotary Club of Asheville volunteer is speaking up after a report of a disturbance at the Embassy Suites, which allegedly occurred after Rep. Chuck Edwards spoke to the crowd. Sharon LeDuc, who has volunteered for the Rotary Club of Asheville since 2010, attended the club's event Saturday, in which North Carolina Rep. Chuck Edwards spoke at the Embassy Suites hotel. She said she was disappointed and disturbed by his speech, which she says turned political.

This includes Marshall, Fleetwood, Micaville, Green Mountain and Swannanoa.
