We all have our chosen media for horny consumption. For some people, it’s more visual, like porn (or sex scenes in Bridgerton), and for others, it’s an auditory experience like audio erotica. But for the literary girlies, the best smut comes in romance novels. People look at romance novels and assume they’re filled with cliches, cheesy storylines, and the same tired sex scenes (think, “throbbing members”) — but it’s so much more.

Valentine's Day is a holiday not everyone loves. Whether you're single, married, or just don't want the hassle, some can agree that the best romance comes from romance books. That's why I wanted to share some romance books that are geared towards the anti-Valentine's Day people. You don't even have to be craving something darker although there are some dark romances on this list.

Read this for the action-packed plot, not character development or worldbuilding. On the orders of her mother, a woman goes to dragon-riding school. Even though her mother is a general in Navarre’s army, 20-year-old Violet Sorrengail was raised by her father to follow his path as a scribe. After his death, though, Violet's mother shocks her by forcing her to enter the elite and deadly dragon rider academy at Basgiath War College.

This is the first new releases roundup of the new year, but if you feel like last year went by way too fast, there are a couple of things grounding us a bit in 2024. For one, romantic fantasy is still having a moment.

A quirky, steamy fantasy that’s just what the romance genre needs. A trader is swept up into an epic adventure after she inadvertently saves a demon’s life. Cinnamon Hotpepper has only ever known a quiet, unassuming life on her family’s spice farm, and she doesn’t expect that to change. When it comes time for their village’s deity—the goddess Myva—to choose her new patrons, Cinnamon’s plan is to keep her head down and avoid getting involved with anything too far outside her comfort zone.

Chapter 1BriePotatoes are by far the most versatile crop. You can fry them up, bake them, or throw them at undesirable men who refuse to leave you alone. At least, that's what I enjoyed doing with them. I snatched another baked potato from my friend Cinnamon, who balked in protest. Before the spice trader could reclaim her favorite treat, I side-stepped out of her reach and prepared to fire another round at my latest annoyance. Jack stumbled back and held his hands up.
