ST. FRANCISVILLE — Several inmates and staff at the West Feliciana Parish jail started showing symptoms of being sick on Saturday morning, April 19th. Upon review, officials learned there was a carbon monoxide leak in the facility. One correctional officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment and all other staff and inmates were evaluated and treated by medical staff. The inmates will be transported from the West Feliciana Parish jail to another facility today.

MORGANZA — Officials in Pointe Coupee Parish are urging drivers to be extra careful driving on Highway 1 through the Morganza Spillway with deer coming out due to the rising water. “They need to be very aware of deer running around and across the highway. There have been two vehicle accidents with deer already in the daytime today,” Pointe Coupee Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux told UWK.

BATON ROUGE —- Two men are dead after a shooting near the Baton Rouge Airport on Thursday evening. It was around 8:30 p.m. on April 17 when BRPD officers responded to Veterans Memorial Blvd. & Sally Ride Ave, at the Baton Rouge Airport for shots fired. Upon arrival, one person was found dead. Then, officers found a second person, deceased from a gunshot.

ROSELAND — A double shooting early Wednesday has landed three people behind bars and left one person dead. Many of the involved include teenagers. It was just after midnight on April 16 when Roseland Police officers responded to the 63000 block of Commercial St. for a shooting. At the scene, officers found an 18-year-old dead from his injuries. A 17-year-old was taken to a hospital and has since been released for injuries sustained during the double shooting.

BATON ROUGE —- A three-year-old child has been shot and was rushed to a hospital. The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 400 block of N. 26th Street. That’s off of Florida Blvd., east of N. 22nd St. Sources tell UWK the three-year-old was shot in the back and then rushed to a hospital. Sources added the child is expected to survive. As for the suspects, police say they were seen getting into a vehicle and fleeing the scene.
