Approximately 70 pieces of Gilbert B. and Lila Silverman’s collection is being auctioned by DuMouchelles Auction House in downtown Detroit. Gilbert Silverman was a founder of what became Southfield-based Village Green Cos., one of the largest multifamily real estate managers in the country, along with the Holtzman family.

Passenger train service running out of a new transit hub near Michigan Central Station could begin by late 2028, Crain’s has learned. A new transit facility plus a 1,300-space, eight-story parking deck are being considered for construction on what appears to be land owned by Ford Motor Co., which redeveloped the formerly abandoned depot and reopened it last year, according to a 43-page October 2024 presentation obtained by Crain’s through the Freedom of Information Act.
The Vanguard hotel opens in Ann Arbor

A new Marriott International Inc. hotel has opened near the University of Michigan and its affiliated hospital campus in Ann Arbor. The Vanguard has 188 rooms, 24 of which are one-bedroom suites, at 201 Glen Ave. between Catherine and East Anne streets. The project was developed by Aventura, Fla.-based Robert Finvarb Cos. and West Bloomfield Township-based Milford Singer & Co., according to a press release. The property also includes a French-inspired brasserie called La Serre.

The event space at the Hudson’s Detroit development has opened and has an official name: The Department at Hudson's. Bedrock LLC, Dan Gilbert’s Detroit-based real estate company, said Wednesday that the 56,000-plus square feet of space is being sold and marketed by Bethesda, Md.-based hospitality giant Marriott International Inc. and catering and beverage service will be handled by Troy-based Forte Balengar.

Populous, which is headquartered in Kansas City, is now leasing space in the WeWork Inc. location at Woodward Avenue and Clifford Street owned by Dan Gilbert’s Bedrock LLC real estate firm.
