Nueces County officials said Thursday that the Texas Historical Commission had voted to remove the easement and historical designation of the 1914 Nueces County Courthouse. The Corpus Christi City Council on April 15 approved an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation that will provide the lion’s share of funding — nearly $11.8 million from the state — for a project with an anticipated total cost of about $13.6 million, according to city records.
