Thousands of runners will be taking to the streets between Warwick and Kenilworth this weekend for the return of the Two Castle Run. The event, which attracts arounds 4,000 participants, is due to take place on Sunday (June 8). Runners will start at Warwick Castle and follow a 10km route through the countryside ending at Kenilworth Castle. Last year marked 40 years of the run, and was the first time the event had been fully booked since the pandemic.

A yellow weather warning has been in place for Warwickshire over the weekend. The Met Office has put the warning in place from between 9am and 6pm tomorrow (Saturday) for heavy rain and thunderstorms. Hail and strong winds could also happen. The warning that has been issued covers a large part of the country including the south, south west, Wales and the west midlands – with Warwickshire also set to be impacted.

A new market in Warwick, which takes place at one of the town’s most historic buildings, is set to be extended to due its popularity. The market, which launched in April at the Lord Leycester, aimed to answer calls from the community for fresh produce. It has been taking place on the first and third Wednesday of each month, but organisers said that because it has been so popular, a decision has been made to now hold it every two weeks from July throughout the summer.

The Leamington Art Gallery and Museum is set to reopen after an unexpected closure. On May 29 the venue suddenly closed. This was due to adverse weather impacting the ongoing roof repairs and the closure was a precautionary measure to “safeguard the artworks, staff and visitors”. A reopening date has now been announced.
