    Heads up for South Coast residents, more rain is forecast for the coming weekend. There is still much uncertainty about how much rain will fall and where. However, considering many residents are still cleaning up after last weekend's atmospheric rivers we wanted to make sure residents are aware of the potential for this coming weekend. We are expecting rain, on and off, from Friday evening through Sunday.

    Weather watchers from all across the Lower Mainland were treated to a stunning sight on Wednesday night as thunderstorms and rainbows took over the sky. Global News was flooded with images of double rainbows and lightning strikes, with many capturing both weather events in one photo. Global BC senior meteorologist Kristi Gordon said a very narrow and intense band of rain and thunderstorms moved across the Lower Mainland from west to east around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

    It's that time of year when everyone starts asking about what's in store for winter. And while it's always difficult to predict weather patterns with certainty this far out, it's looking like there's a decent chance it will be a good year for skiers and snowboarders. The U.S. National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center is estimating a 71 per cent chance we will transition into a La Niña climatic pattern this winter.

The flight was leaving Vancouver International Airport on Sunday night, just before 7:30 p.m., when it was struck during a rare winter thunderstorm. The large blue flash can be seen at the back of the plane during the moment of contact.
