To make the list, a company has had to have shown more than 20 per cent annual growth in turnover consistently over three years, according to their results Companies House. It also had to have started that period with at least £1m turnover.

Mark Fox, chief executive of motorway services group Roadchef, has stepped down to be succeeded by a former boss of one of its biggest rivals. Fox, who has been chief executive of the Cannock-based business for seven years, has stepped back after being diagnosed with myelofibrosis, a rare blood cancer. He is being succeeded by Tim Gittins, who spent 16 years at rival Moto, holding senior roles such as strategy director and chief operating officer.

One of the best-known legal names in Midlands dealmaking has been made head of the firm’s operations in the region. Jon Bew, who has been with the firm for five and a half years, succeeds real estate partner Beth McArdle and Alex Bishop, who acted as co-heads for five years. The national law firm employs about 300 people at its offices at 103 Colmore Row, a tower in central Birmingham. Bew joined Shoosmiths from Irwin Mitchell, where he was banking & finance partner.

One of the best-known names in Midlands' dealmaking, former Eversheds Sutherland partner Mark Beardmore, has joined a private equity house being set up by three former leaders of LDC. Beardmore, who retired last year after a decade leading the corporate finance team at Eversheds in Birmingham, has taken on the role of general counsel at HGL Private Capital. Coventry-based HGL is being launched by three former LDC leaders - Chris Hurley, Ged Gould, and Andy Lyndon.
