LAWRENCEVILLE — The most challenging aspect of college soccer for Samantha Allen was not playing soccer at all. It wasn’t because the former Allentown High standout didn’t want to be on the pitch for the women’s team at Binghamton University, but rather she couldn’t physically be out there because she was recovering from a torn ACL sustained midway through her senior season of high school.

This exactly. These schools generate enrollment (and tuition dollars) by having say 60 kids rostered for track and field, 35 for wrestling and so on.

My understanding is that in many cases, roster limits are the bigger hurdle to opting in than revenue, especially with no minimum amount you have to share. Smaller D1 schools in many cases rely on non-rev sports teams for enrollment goals + as paying customers for room/board.

Additionally, the Thunder averaged 6,636 fans for their season-opening homestand Last season they averaged 5,289 per game, which was more than 8 Eastern League teams With the park renovations, it’s past time to right the wrong and bring affiliated ball back to Trenton
