AUGUSTA, GA (WJBF) – Savannah is a three-sport star for the Lions playing basketball, soccer, and volleyball where she has been a leader on all of her teams. She is also a leader in the classroom where she is in the honor roll, has the FLAIR highest GPA as student of the year, and won the Georgia Certificate of Merit. For all of her hard work in the classroom as well as in her athletic endeavors, Savannah has been named WJBF Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Augusta University sophomore wins individual title at golf tournament

AUGUSTA, GA (WJBF) – The Augusta Jaguars women’s golf team played in the 50th annual paladin invitational hosted by Furman university this weekend. The team finished 7th overall and sophomore Keira Gonzalez-McCarthy earned the individual win by backing up her opening round 68 with 70’s on both Saturday and Sunday.
Local baseball historian creates exhibit for Augusta Public Library

The theme of the exhibit is “World Series players who also played in Augusta” and it is currently on display in the Georgia Heritage Room. WJBF spoke with Garrard about the opportunity he has presented for baseball fans to learn about Augusta sports history, and what he hopes people take away from the exhibit.
