CRU club decided to have this week’s meeting out on the lawn, where they played games as a way to get to know each other. CRU is a Christian organization on campus where their mission is to share Christianity with people on campus and have a safe space to come together and have fun with one another. “Being able to find fellowship with people my age has been most fulfilling in this organization.

Rhythmic, melodic music filled the room at DiPiazza’s on Thursday night as attendees packed in to grab a drink and pizza to watch LBCC’s music combo class put on a show. DiPiazza’s has been a big staple in the Long Beach music scene since 2000 hosting live music and open mic nights in the community. The music combo class run by Professor Pat Sheng hosts an annual Jazz Night every month at DiPiazza’s to give students the experience and opportunity to showcase their talents.

Long Beach City College hosted their 18th annual induction banquet Hall of Champions on Thursday Mar. 21 at The Grand in Long Beach to commemorate former student athletes, coaches and support personnel for their contribution to LBCC’s athletic history. The Hall of Champions induction is to honor and give an opportunity to recognize the achievements of athletics at the school.

The Lyrical Workers, Long Beach City College’s jazz ensemble, had the experience of a lifetime traveling to New Orleans last month to perform and take in all of the Jazz history that the city has to offer. The ensemble attended the Jazz Education Network Conference that is held every year where teachers, professionals and recording artists come together to showcase their work and take workshops. The trip was a total of seven days with the conference taking up three of those days.

Long Beach City College sophomore guard Brandon Cerda scored a total of 16 points and eight assists to lead the men’s basketball team but it was not enough as the Vikings lost 93-87 to Cerritos on Friday. The men’s basketball team’s chance for the playoffs was cut short after their last game of the season not going in their favor. “I feel good about my performance today, I wish we could have won.
