The LBCC dance room buzzed with excitement as both experienced and beginner performers auditioned at LAC in room Q113 from Dec 3-5 for the upcoming musical “In the Heights” next semester. In the Heights, a musical production by Lin Manuel Miranda best known for writing the hit Broadway show Hamilton, has set off excitement as it is the first musical performance at LBCC in 18 years.

A Kink Fest in Long Beach was filled with spanking, wrestling and howling on Nov. 23. A crowd of pups, fetishists, and many others gathered in downtown Long Beach to celebrate the kink community. Several attendees at the event identify themselves as pups which is part of a subculture where people engage in pup-play where the individual identifies as a dog and can even include having a handler.

Long Beach City College hosted a Healthcare Career Fair that gave students a great opportunity to explore career options in the healthcare industry that took place on Nov. 20 at LAC in the quad area.

In celebration of college radio day, Long Beach City College paid tribute to Radio/TV department’s Doug Wood on Monday, Sept.30, 2024 at the FF building of the Trades,Technology and Community Learning Campus (TCC), formerly known as PCC. Wood recently just passed away in early September of this year and was one of the founding members of LBCC’s radio station who helped instruct and furnish ideas to move the station forward and was a beloved professor and mentor to many students.

Finding a community to be a part of can be difficult, but “Join a Club Day” helped to minimize the stress by having booths run by their club owners filled with music, games, and free food. Multiple clubs signed up to be a part of the event which took place in LAC on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by another club event at PCC on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. .
