With an anticipated decline in enrolment, School District 83 is also expecting a $1.3 million budget shortfall in the coming school year. As of the school district's June 3 committee of the whole meeting, enrolment was expected to drop 113.5 full-time equivalent students. The Trans-Canada Highway/30th Street NE intersection continues to be a hot spot for motor-vehicle collisions in Salmon Arm. On Monday, June 4, ICBC announced the release of its 2024 data on such things as vehicle-related crashes and injuries, auto crime, violation tickets and contraventions. The updated data includes the locations of motor-vehicle crashes that have occurred in the community since 2020.

Hosting last year's 55+ BC Games contributed to a healthy year for accommodation revenue in Salmon Arm. According to the 2024 Salmon Arm Municipal and Regional Tax (MRDT) annual performance report, a requirement of the B.C. government, accommodations revenue for the year was over $18.7 million – up from $16.62 million in 2023 and $16.6 million the year prior.

The city has been urged to step up efforts to reduce emissions through B.C.'s Zero Carbon Step Code. At its May 26 meeting, council received a letter from Shuswap Climate Action society chair Julia Beatty regarding the step code and how other B.C. communities have transitioned to more advanced levels.
