I grew up in in Omaha, Nebraska, and like many communities across Wisconsin, our neighborhood decked the halls, trees, fences, roofs and yards for the holidays, rivaling but maybe not quite matching Candy Cane Lane. On those weekends before Christmas, traffic would back up as minivans crawled through the neighborhood to see elaborate displays of lights, garlands and holiday characters. One neighborhood dad dressed up as Santa and gave out treats to visitors.

It's that special time of year again where we deck the halls, trim the trees and light up the now dark streets with holiday lights and decorations. We're compiling a map of all the best displays in the Appleton area. Whether you're near one of the Fox Valley's downtowns, nestled in a cul-de-sac or out along a rural county highway, if you put effort into your decorations and want them to be seen, we invite you to participate. To put your house or business on the map, fill out the form below.

Voting closes across the Appleton area for the 2024 general election at 8 p.m. when we wait for election results. Anyone who is in line to vote when the polls close can remain in line and still legally cast their ballots in Wisconsin's election. Wisconsin voters cast ballots for President of the United States, U.S. Senator, all U.S. Congressional seats and myriad Wisconsin state Senate and all Wisconsin state Assembly seats.

The Nov. 5 election is quickly approaching, as Wisconsin residents are regularly reminded via campaign text messages, nonstop commercials and more. Press-Gazette reporters went out to speak with Brown County voters about what issues they're most passionate about and who they're casting their ballot for in November as part of a series featuring voter voices. Other stories feature voices from Milwaukee voters , suburban Milwaukee , young voters and rural voters.
