The coldest stretch of the year in the Appleton area will begin on Saturday and continue through Wednesday, with wind chill temperatures being considered “dangerously cold” by the National Weather Service Green Bay. While a high of 38 degrees is forecasted for Friday, a significant drop is expected going into Saturday, with minus 5 wind chills on the way. Saturday through Wednesday will see extremely low wind chills, mainly in the double-digit negatives throughout the week.

OCONTO - Officials have identified the 49-year-old man from Lena who died Sunday in a UTV crash in the Oconto County town of Lena. Thomas Slatky was killed at around 2:50 p.m. Sunday when his UTV left the road and overturned in a ditch, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle. The damaged vehicle was found east of Midway Road in a ditch on the north side of Goatsville Road, according to the Oconto County Sheriff's Office. Slatky was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
