    One person was taken into police custody after Mounties responded to a wellness check and reports of shots fired at a home in Langley, B.C., Tuesday afternoon. Langley RCMP say officers were on their way to check on the wellbeing of a person at a home on 236 Street south of 47 Avenue around 3 p.m. when they received multiple calls of gunshots heard in the same area. Several RCMP officers were joined by members of the Integrated Emergency Response Team and Integrated Police Dog Services.

The province's wildfire season officially begins on March 1 and runs until Oct. 31. According to provincial numbers, Alberta kicked off the season with 10 active wildfires, down from 60 at the same time last year.

In November 2024, the St. Mary's Academy hockey team was told the all-girls private Catholic school was cutting the program.     Saskatchewan breweries are bracing for the potential impacts of U.S. President Donald Trump's 25 per cent tariff on Canadian steel and aluminum, which is set to come into effect March 12. "We're preparing for another roller-coaster ride," said Mark Heise, president and CEO of Rebellion Brewing in Regina. Although Canada is a major producer of raw aluminum and has massive smelting capacity, the country does not have rolling mills to produce the thin sheets needed for cans.
