    Police have released a CCTV image of a Bedford man who has been missing from his home since May 13. Matthew, 39, was last spotted on CCTV in Carlisle, Cumbria, on Tuesday, May 20. Police believe he could still be in the area and say they are concerned for his welfare. He is described as around 6ft, slim guild and was last seen wearing black jogging bottoms, a black jacket, black shoes and a black rucksack.

    Police have carried out weapon sweeps in Shefford and Clifton as part of a focus on knife crime. It’s all part of Operation Sceptre – a national week of action. Police will be carrying out more sweeps to find and get rid of discarded knifes, checks with shops to make sure blades aren’t being sold to children, and community engagement events.

    An academy is celebrating after Ofsted inspectors described it as a “welcome and nurturing place to learn”. Etonbury Academy in Arlesey was visited by Ofsted on April 23 and 24 – and the report has now been published. The school was rated as ‘good’ across the board, with inspectors praising the ‘often excellent’ conduct of pupils and the “warm supportive relationships they build with staff”. The report stated: “Pupils behave with great courtesy and respect.

    A man who tried to dispose of a knife down a rubbish chute after a fatal stabbing has been convicted of manslaughter. Tyreese Kamau, 25, was found guilty today (Friday, May 16) of the manslaughter of 26-year-old Patrice Che, who was stabbed at a property near Bedford town centre last year. The stabbing in Brereton Road happened at around 3am on Tuesday, November 5. Patrice was taken to hospital, but died the following day (Wednesday).

He's ranked at number 5 in East Anglia - and 181st overall - with a 2025 worth of £884million. His main estate is based at Woburn Abbey. Kirsten Rausing tops the East Anglia list, according to this year’s edition of list, published online on May 16 and in the print edition of the newspaper on Sunday, May 18.
