However, the third-year Drake Law School student says she overcame her fear of public speaking by delivering opening statements in a courtroom full of people. Pietig worked with the Polk County Attorney's Office to prosecute Brian Scott Cooper for choking and beating his ex-girlfriend. A jury convicted Cooper, 51, of two felony domestic abuse charges.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has completed its investigation into the May 8 death of employee Kathleen Galloway-Menke is complete. OSHA cites three violations, two being serious. The youth group home serves some of the state's most troubled teens and is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Galloway-Menke suffered a head injury after she was pushed by a teen at the home, the report cites. She died days later at a local hospital.

Robert Allen Davis is charged with first-degree murder in the 1989 disappearance of Barbara Lenz. His arrest comes nearly 36 years after Lenz went missing in the western Iowa town of Woodbine. The Iowa Attorney General's Cold Case Unit announced Davis' arrest Tuesday after months of investigation. A criminal complaint says Davis and Lenz were in a relationship at the time, and Davis was the last person to see Lenz before she disappeared.
