JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The Jackson Police Department is investigating after a man crashed his car, tried to run from the scene, then attempted to steal the vehicle of a person who stopped to help him. According to Captain William Kendrick, a man was involved in an individual accident near Elton Road just after 6 a.m.The man tried to run away from the crash and attempted to steal a vehicle from a Good Samaritan, who had pulled over to check on him.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Traffic is backed up along I-20 westbound as police and EMS are on the scene. WLBT crews spotted several Jackson Police cars as well as EMS vehicles. At this time, it is unclear what the cause of the scene is, but WLBT crews viewed evidence of a possible car crash. As a result of the police and EMS presence, traffic along I-20 West is congested.
