SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- A new city soccer program is being called a tremendous success in San Jose. 'Saturday Night Lights' was a 10-week-pilot program that just wrapped up this month. The San Jose Earthquakes, Catholic Charities, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office and several other groups partnered to make it happen. Two-hundred-twenty middle and high school students were coached and played futsal at their school gyms.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Seven California men are being charged in what the Department of Justice calls "the largest jewelry heist in history," estimated at $100 million. Authorities say in 2022, the suspects broke into a Brinks semi-truck while it was parked at a Grapevine truck stop. High-end gems and luxury watches were being transported from a jewelry show in San Mateo to Pasadena.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Plans are moving forward to convert a boutique hotel into a homeless shelter for women and children. The Bristol Hotel is in San Jose, but directly behind it is considered Campbell. Lynne Ferguson and her neighbors are Campbell residents. It came after considerable concern from the community that the opening would result in the closure of several small businesses. On Wednesday the city approved the fast-food chain's permit to build a prominent corner -- West San Carlos and Race Streets. It's near the Alameda. The city's planning director heard from members of the public during a meeting.
