SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco school leaders are calling off a controversial plan to change how some high school teachers grade. What if homework, tests, attendance, and other factors didn't heavily count towards a student's academic grade? Joe Feldman, a former educator, said he saw a need to improve traditional grading practices. "Because teachers don't get trained how to grade ironically, teachers are grading in lots of different ways," Feldman said.

Torres resigned in November and last month pleaded no contest in a child molestation case. The candidates vying to represent San Jose's District 3 on the city council, Gabby Chavez-Lopez and Anthony Tordillos, faced off in a forum Thursday.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- Animal advocates are saying enough is enough at the San Jose Animal Care Center. On Tuesday evening outside City Hall, community members held a candlelight vigil to honor animals who died at the city shelter. The most recent death was Lola, who a shelter employee found tangled in her IV catheter and leash last week. Her owners created a sign. Princess Aguilar, 13, said Lola was their family dog for the past six years.
