Earlier this month, the few hundred residents who live around SpaceX outside Brownsville voted to create the new City of Starbase. Now, the new city’s leaders have told landowners they plan to introduce land use rules that could result in changes for some residents. In a letter obtained by The Texas Newsroom, Starbase City Administrator Kent Myers told local landowners they may lose the right to continue using their property for its current use under the city’s new zoning plan.

The City of Starbase is now official. On Tuesday morning, the Cameron County Commissioners Court certified the May 3 election results that created the new city near Elon Musk's rocket launch site outside Brownsville. The approval occurred with no dissent. "We congratulate Starbase, the new mayor and the new two city councilman and wish them the absolute best. We look forward to working with them for the betterment not only of Starbase but of Cameron County, Texas," County Judge Eddie Treviño said.

SpaceX just got a lot closer to launching more rockets from its base in South Texas. The Federal Aviation Administration on Tuesday said there would be no significant impact to the environment if SpaceX increases launches at its Starbase facility from five to 25 times a year — as long as the company takes additional steps to protect the local area. The information was issued in what's called a "final tiered environmental assessment," an in-depth look into the request's potential effects.

This amendment seems like kind of a big deal? Says intersex people “must receive accommodations in accordance with state and federal law.” Wondering what those are exactly, and how they’ve been interpreted by courts. Cc @AliciaWeigel
