    MERIDEN — A man faces charges after police said another man’s hand was nearly severed in an assault in September. Jeisson Oswaldo Angarita Roldan, 34, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree assault, second-degree threatening, and disorderly conduct. On Sept. 30 police responded to a report of a fight in the area of 306 E. Main St., according to police. A man involved in the incident was taken to a local hospital with his hand nearly severed from his wrist, police said.

    SOUTHINGTON — A man and woman face charges in connection to the shooting death of a dog in August. Karenlynne Gatling, 24, of Bristol, was arrested on Friday and charged with cruelty to animals. Maurice McElrath, 43, of Waterbury, was charged with cruelty to animals, criminal possession of a revolver, and unlawful discharge of a firearm. On Aug. 17, Southington police responded to a report of a dog that was shot, Lt. Keith Egan said in a statement Friday.
