An Attleboro father is being remembered as a loyal friend, a devoted dad, and a loving partner. According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, Burns lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a white Mercedes-Benz SUV in the area of 2309 Cranberry Highway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Matthew Burns, 49, was killed earlier this month in a motorcycle crash on Route 28 in Wareham. Anthony D’Ellena, chairman of the Narragansett Republican Town Committee, filed a police complaint accusing Councilor Jay Wegimont of physically confronting him in a hallway outside the meeting chambers.

A Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) employee is facing charges after police say he stabbed a coworker during an argument outside the agency’s Providence headquarters. The incident happened just after 7 p.m. Wednesday near the RIPTA building on Melrose Street. According to police, officers arrived to find an employee suffering from a stab wound to the stomach. The victim was reportedly using paper towels to apply pressure to the wound when police arrived.

Rhode Island drivers could soon be paying more under the state’s proposed $14.3 billion budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
