Juneteenth is the celebration of the emancipation of the last group of slaves in Texas after the Civil War. The very first celebration took place on June 19, 1866 in Galveston. The word "Juneteenth" is a combination of the words "June" and "nineteenth.” It became a recognized Federal holiday in 2021. Below are some of the activities taking place in middle Tennessee to celebrate the holiday in 2025. There are breakfasts and festivals, bike rides and fireworks.

It came as no surprise when we released the 2024 State of the CIO that artificial intelligence loomed large on the CIO’s radar this year. So when I began dissecting this year’s State of the CIO study, I was fascinated by the story the datapoints were telling me about the reality of modern CIO leadership. I was stuck on one in particular: that addressing security threats was the top issue forcing CIOs to redirect their attention away from strategic and innovative tasks.
