The Louisville Metro Council member who represents the area around Algonquin Park said a newly renovated pool remains a safe place for the community after shots were heard in the area just as an opening day event was wrapping up May 24. Councilwoman Tammy Hawkins said she did not hear any shots, probably because of all the other noises from the pool area, but she did see people dispersing.

Completed conversions include portions of South Fifth, West Oak and East Jefferson streets, as well as Mellwood Avenue. Police have not located anyone injured in the shooting, LMPD spokesperson Matt Sanders said in a statement. At about 4:55 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired on the field near West Gaulbert Avenue and Catalpa Street. LMPD released a security camera image of a suspect on social media.

Kentucky's death toll from the May 16-17 tornadoes remains at 19, while eight people are still hospitalized, Gov. Andy Beshear said during a Team Kentucky Update May 22. Of the eight people hospitalized, three are in critical condition, one is in serious condition, and four are deemed to be in good condition, Beshear said.
