In my adult life, I have never gone away for more than a few days without my computer. Maybe this is normal? But for as long as I can remember, I’ve traveled with my computer because, you just never know. This inevitably led me to “check a few emails” and “do a little work” despite the fact that I should not be doing those things because how often do we actually take time off in the first place? Not very often.

I had a long overdue appointment with my hair stylist on Monday. The second I sat down in the chair, I felt a meltdown coming. Was I going to cry? I didn’t cry, but I almost did. We can blame it on PMS and the overhead lighting that was accentuating my roots and crow's feet, but it was more than that. I just felt . . . horrible. “Please . . . just fix me!!!!” I begged. She laughed and asked what I wanted to do.

Hi there — happy Saturday! The above photo is from “cookbook club” with my girlfriends. It’s a fun excuse to get together every month. Some months, we pick a cookbook, others, a theme. This month’s theme was dips. It was glorious (and very unhealthy). An entire meal, comprised of dips. I highly recommend it. Weekend Reading is up on the blog. It’s the first of the year and it felt good to pull together. The most anticipated books of the year. Cheap travel destinations. The best beauty products from 2024.

Hello, old friend. I’ll spare you the platitudes of my hiatus (you can read about them below), and will just jump into a quick summer update. We’ve been in Bucks County for a few weeks now, after a family vacation to Vancouver and many trips between NY and PA to get the new home ready. I overestimated how much time it would take to unpack and get the house ready, and underestimated how long it would take for us to feel settled (still a work in progress). But I love it.

Monthly writing tips, pop culture recs, and secret peeks into the publishing process. Let’s go!My month of June was full of white wine spritzers (I love a cheeky spritz), eating watermelon and corn salad (I love a savory fruit situation), and finding ways to beat the heat (I love my collection of giant hats). This month, I was fortunate enough to help kick off ’ book tour for You’re Safe Here by being in conversation with her at a sold-out event at P&T Knitwear on the LES.
