Ted Higgin was born at The Brannons, on Station Road in Wootton, on April 10, 1939. He spent his early years there before moving to Seaview when his father, John, took over the family business, Seaview Services. He attended Ryde School and spent his weekends playing along Seaview Duver, fishing, and helping at the family horse-riding school at Puckpool. Ted grew up at Seafield Garage, the home of Seaview Services, and naturally started driving the buses and coaches as soon as he was able.

Leslie Davison, from Shanklin, moved to the Island from Vancouver, Canada, last May, and has been kayaking for over seven years.

The group was founded by a handful of artists led by Ray Ainsworth following the closure of the adult art classes at Cowes High School. Over the years, it has had to overcome many challenges, including four changes of venue when various buildings were closed down in Cowes.

Thomas Turney travelled to Loughborough for Pickleball England’s English Nationals Singles Championships. The event was hosted at the Dan Maskell Tennis Centre at Loughborough University and the venue was transformed to provide more than 30 pickleball courts.
