    The 22nd annual Bluegrass on the Arkansas music festival on May 24 and 25 in Riverside Park drew a huge crowd this year, offering eclectic music and raising more than $30,000 for the hosting Rotary Club of Salida. Dr. Dan Wardrop, Salida Rotary president, estimated around 1,000 people attended on Saturday alone. He said his favorite bands were Magoo and Liver Down the River. RapidGrass, a local favorite, performed as the headliner Sunday night.

    Longfellow Elementary School students brought in a total of 703 nonperishable food items during a recent food drive for The Grainery Ministries food bank, and community members contributed 259 more items for a total of 962. The students were invited to The Grainery Ministries on May 20 to sort and mark off the items. This is the eighth year of the project. The fourth grade raised the most with 252 items. The first grade took second with 180 items.
