A Pittsfield man was arrested Wednesday morning after he allegedly stabbed a 60-year-old man whom police believe he knew, officials said. Jason Wright, 40, was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery on a person 60-years-old or older, Pittsfield police said in a statement. Officers responded to a multi-family home on Woodlawn Avenue in Pittsfield around 2:52 a.m. for reports of a stabbing, the statement said.

A fox that attacked a person and two dogs in Dedham tested positive for rabies, officials said Wednesday. The attacks occurred on March 23 and March 24 in the area of Sandy Valley Road, Dedham Animal Control said in a statement. Those affected have received appropriate treatment to prevent the disease, officials noted in a comment on a social media post. Rabies is a serious but preventable disease, as long as a vaccine is administered quickly after exposure, the statement said.
