Matzah in hand, this week Toledo Jews will commemorate the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Observers of the holiday sat down Saturday for the first Seder, or ritual feast featuring a retelling of the Exodus trials; many will do so again Sunday evening. In the eight-day holiday known as Passover, or Pesach to many observers, “the home is more important than the synagogue,” said Arlene Rubinoff in a 1986 article in The Blade. The Seder meal is the star of Passover.
