“I gotta show you something,” says Bob Cairl. “We got it at our last dig at Pompeii.”“Oh, Bob,” cries his wife, Jane, as Bob charts a course through the meticulously arranged Toledo Architectural Artifacts, a welcome contrast to the cramped antique stores so frequently squeezed into dusty city corners. “When you see it, you’ll think that’s what it is,” he promises before revealing a tile mosaic, bearing — in his defense — a marked similarity to the classic Roman style of antiquity.

Whenever Amy Spaulding-Heuring is asked if there’s anything else about a show she thinks is important to mention, her crew springs to mind. For Oregon Community Theatre’s upcoming production of Into the Woods, she thanks her husband, Paul Heuring, for building the show’s set in such a short span; her longtime collaborator, stage manager, and jack-of-all trades Ann Sommers; Erin Hagedorn, for her hard work as assistant director. Her gratitude is a two-way street.
