MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -The New Orleans Saints signed Clinton native Cam Akers to a one-year contract this past weekend. Akers, 26, who led Clinton to the MHSAA Class 6-A football championship in 2016, was the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year in 2016. He was a second-round draft choice of the L.A. Rams out of Florida State in 2020. The Rams won the 2021 Super Bowl as Akers played in all the postseason games. Akers battled Achilles injuries in both 2021 and 2023.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Friday will be a fun night in Meridian as the city invites residents and visitors to embark on the Never Ending Summer Ale Trail. The event will run from 5:00 until 10:00 and include cocktails, beer, food, live entertainment and much more. Participants can pick up their Ale Trail cards between 5:00 & 7:00 in front of Fare on Eighth and then go on a taste of the town tour with stops at several venues.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -The annual College 4 Kids program is in full swing at Meridian Community College and the kids are partaking in a variety of classes. Local kids, ranging from ages six through twelve, can spend two weeks at MCC with a variation of activities to choose from, including cosmetology, sports, cooking, fishing, and animal care.
