Instead, he created Big Apple Bodega to be a sober space with zero-proof wine, beer, and other drinks to pair with his chopped cheese sandwiches.

    Stepping inside TeaLee’s Tea House & Bookstore in Five Points gives one the sense of visiting a beloved aunty’s house. It’s the place to bring your mom for afternoon tea, or come in for a cozy solo bite. But owner Risë Jones (pronounced “REE-sah”) also offers visitors a sultry side downstairs, where intimate jazz shows, poetry slams, and readings take place. It also houses the small bookstore, chockfull of Black authors from around the world. Jones officially opened the doors in February, 2018.

    March ends and with it comes April and the news of a killer happy hour in Uptown. Also fresh on the scene, a cowboy-themed barbecue spot and the third location of a casual Mexican restaurant. We’re sad to report the closing of Sushi-Rama, the last conveyor belt sushi eatery in the city. But on a positive note, Colorado officially has a state mushroom, and it’s not psychedelic.
