GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- Photos shared with NewsWatch 12 show Roy Harvey. Court documents say the 57-year-old man died after being hit repeatedly with a shovel last month in Josephine County. According to Grants Pass Police, 30-year-old James Ross was taken into custody in connection to Harvey's death on Sunday, April 13 at the Robertson Bridge Boat Landing. Ross faces charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

MEDFORD, Ore. -- The Medford Police Department said Crater Lake Avenue will be closed "for an extended period" Wednesday evening between Alpine Court and Temple Drive. The closure comes after a crash involving a motorcycle and another car. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team is investigating the crash now. MPD is asking any drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

CURRY COUNTY, Ore. -- Curry County announced on Wednesday that Brookings mayor Isaac Hodges will be filling the open county commissioner seat. This comes after Commissioner Brad Alcorn announced earlier this month he was stepping down from his post, effective May 1. Commissioners Jay Trost and Patrick Hollinger appointed Hodges to the open seat, with his term beginning May 2. Commissioner Alcorn abstained from the vote.

SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. - The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office is calling on California lawmakers and the state's Department of Fish and Wildlife to protect residents against potential attacks by gray wolves. In a letter published Wednesday, April 16, Sheriff Jeremiah LaRue said sightings of gray wolves in public areas in the county have become more common. "The mere fact that residents witness wolves near their homes is alarming," LaRue wrote.

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. - A Jacksonville man accused of using Snapchat to lure a minor has waived his right to a 60-day trial. 39-year-old Anthony Wheeler appeared in court Monday, April 14 for a pre-trial conference. He is pleading not guilty to four charges: first-degree and second-degree online sexual corruption of a child and two counts of luring a minor. Detectives with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office arrested Wheeler in an undercover operation March 26.
