    PIERCETON – The Pierceton Town Council continued discussions on changing speed limits for a majority of the roads in town limits during its meeting Monday. Town Marshal Jim Bumbaugh requested all town roads stay at 25 mph speed limits, with the exception of a few roads changing to 30 mph. Those include the entirety of Market Street, Arnolt Drive, Pequignot Drive and Matchette Drive; and Mill Street, from U.S. 30 to Grant and Keith streets.

Jamasyn Virgil, who currently works as a Kosciusko County Jail corporal, was hired as a merit deputy. Board members described Virgil as enthusiastic about the job and said they were impressed by him.

    ETNA GREEN — The Etna Green Town Council and residents discussed the aftermath of the Bourbon tornado and power restoration following the storm during a meeting Tuesday. Etna Township Fire Department Chief Kevin Smith II said the department assisted Bourbon with recovery efforts, including search and rescue, after an EF-1 tornado entered Bourbon during the night of April 2.

    The city of Warsaw Code Enforcement requested a shipping container at Deluxe Inn be moved by Saturday, April 12. Deep Patel, a representative for Deluxe Inn, 2519 E. Center St., attended a code enforcement hearing on Tuesday to address the concern. He told city officials there had been two shipping containers on the property, with one belonging to the inn and another belonging to a Texas-based company.
