HAUBSTADT, Ind. (WFIE/Gray News) - Authorities say the gunman is in custody after three people were killed and another was critically injured in a shooting at an Indiana home. Gibson County Sheriff Bruce Vanoven says multiple calls came in around 8:30 p.m. Thursday for shots fired at a home near Haubstadt. According to a search warrant request, 77-year-old Patrick Waite also called 911, telling officers he shot several people and would be waiting outside.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Several Tri-State leaders are in Chicago right now for the Democratic National Convention. Vanderburgh County Democratic Party Chair Cheryl Schultz, Evansville City Council’s Ben Trockman and Mary Allen, former prosecutor Stan Levco, and several others are all delegates representing the interests of the area. They will all take part in the vote to officially recognize VP Kamala Harris as the democratic nominee later this week.

The theme for one group of attendees at the afternoon’s Otters game was ‘Don’t Dis My Ability.’“A lot of our people fall on the autism spectrum so, getting them to get out and actually talk to people, it’s just enjoyable to see what they do and get engaged, because the more they get engaged is better for them,” said Kiwanis’s Aktion Club founder, Jack Maxwell.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - In Newburgh, a restaurant is helping support a Sharon Elementary School teacher diagnosed with cancer. Prime Time Pub and Grill and Prime Time Sports in Warrick County are both donating 20 percent of their profits from Sunday’s business to Trevor Wagner. The restaurants’ owner David Parker says they hope to support the Wagner family as Trevor undergoes treatment for the next year at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A historic Warrick County library damaged in a fire back in April could be torn down as early as the end of the month. [Previous Story: Fire crews extinguish Lynnville Branch Library fire Wednesday night]Thousands of books were destroyed after a fire broke out here at the Lynnville Library Branch a few months ago. Since then, the building has sat boarded up and unused. Officials have accepted a bid to demolish the building.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A former Evansville Parks director serving a sentence for misappropriating funds and counterfeiting invoices could have to pay almost $1 million in damages. Brian Holtz was convicted last year on 12 counts after investigators identified dozens of incidents that involved Holtz submitting counterfeited invoices, involving more than $13 million.

The Attorney General’s Office has filed a complaint to try to recoup some of the money lost. The complaint includes an itemized list of falsified invoices and misappropriated funds that amount to more than $1.1 million.
