The Whistler Fire Rescue Service (WFRS) is preparing to roll out a new addition to its emergency fleet-a wildland fire truck that boosts water-pumping power tenfold-thanks to a $700,000 donation from the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation. The custom-built vehicle, manufactured by Safetek Profire in Abbotsford, replaces an aging truck at the end of its service life and is expected to be operational by June.

The Resort Municipality of Whistler's (RMOW) fourth-quarter financial report showed revenue and spending were in line with budget expectations-but a notable decline in hotel tax revenue is raising red flags. Municipal and Regional District Tax (MRDT) revenue dropped by 11.9 per cent in Q4, the largest quarterly decline since the pandemic, according to preliminary, unaudited information in the RMOW's financial system.

Whistler Secondary School (WSS) is moving ahead with plans to build its first-ever fitness and training centre, thanks to a $250,000 capital campaign launched March 31 by the school's Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Slated for completion in time for the 2025-26 school year, the new facility will convert an underused classroom into a modern wellness space focused on cardio, strength, stretching, boxing, training programs and a climbing wall.
