WILMINGTON — There were multiple warrant articles for residents to consider approving at the annual Town Meeting on May 3 related to the potential North Wilmington fire substation. The idea was first introduced by Town Manager Eric Slagle during discussion of article six, proposing $3.5 million be set aside for substation construction. He reminded residents that this substation has been on the minds of Wilmington residents for a while.

WILMINGTON — Wilmington’s annual Town Meeting took place on May 3, 2025, lasting from 9 a.m. to almost 5 p.m. Over 300 total residents attended at some points in person to vote. In the opening of the meeting, Town Moderator Jonathan Eaton highlighted the colors provided by Wilmington Minutemen, recent residents tragically lost and the departing and newly appointed members of the Select Board, School Committee, Shawsheen Tech School Committee, and Housing Authority.

WILMINGTON — Wilmington residents voted no on the proposed multi-family overlay zoning district warrant article proposed at the May 3, 2025 special Town Meeting. This meeting was held during the annual Town Meeting. Planning Board member Terence Boland shared his support for the article in that the potential district would contain multi-family housing already and that the zoning would help to actualize the walkable streetscape desired in the town’s Facilities Master Plan.

WILMINGTON — The fiscal year 2026 town budget was approved at the May 3 Town Meeting. Town Manager Eric Slagle began with a presentation thanking those who contributed to the budget from various departments. He named the goals of the budget which were to maintain a conservative fiscal approach while putting forth important projects, maintaining staff and renovating and updating buildings and infrastructure.

WILMINGTON — On Monday, April 28, the Select Board covered an entertainment license, Eagle Scout project proposal, communications, appointments, and Salute to Service per their agenda. Select Board member Gary DePalma opened the meeting that night by offering congratulations to newly elected board member Jacob Gearwar and reelected member Kevin Caira after the annual town election the previous Saturday. They later discussed the election and results further.
