SEEDS A variety of seeds saved by farmers on display during a seed fair in Gilgil Sub-County of Nakuru County. Farmers from parts of Rift Valley, Nyanza and Western regions have opposed the privatisation of the Kenya Seed Company. The farmers fear the proposed move would compromise their access to seeds, the country’s seed sovereignty and food security. Speaking in Nakuru during a traditional food fare, the group vowed to reject the privatisation bid.

Journalist in Nakuru on Wednesday held a peaceful protest of the shooting against their colleague. They gathered at the railway ground before starting their walk through Kenyatta Avenue which is the main street in the busy city. They stopped briefly at the CK Patel building outside Faulu bank, the spot where Catherine Wanjeri Kariuki was shot three times as she covered the anti-government protests on Tuesday.

Three people, among them a journalist working with a Kameme radio and TV station were shot during the anti-government protests in Nakuru. Other scribes say the reporter Wanjeri wa Kariuki was shot three times in the thigh and was taken to a private hospital for treatment. Witnesses claim the police allegedly shot at the female scribe yet she was marked with a press card and jacket.
