A former church hall in Rookley could be demolished to make way for a home. It comes after the thumbs up was given for the transformation of Rookley Methodist Church, on Niton Road, into a 2-bed house also. Tucked behind the church is a hall that was built in 1956 and was used until 2019 in connection with the Methodist Church. The former church site had been on the market since 2022 but little interest had been shown in taking them on as a community facility.

Rise in death and marriage costs on the Island (Image: IWCP) Getting married, holding a funeral or being cremated on the Isle of Wight has just got more expensive. The Isle of Wight Council has increased the prices of its registrar services as well as cremations, burials and memorials, by roughly six per cent — which it says is in line with inflation. Overall, the hikes, which came into effect on April 1, will make the authority an extra £137,000 a year.

Money-saving sees council contact centre hours reduced (Image: IWCP) Islanders can no longer seek help and advice from the Isle of Wight Council's contact centre at the weekend, after the authority cut the service's opening hours to save money. Opening times of the centre at County Hall, Newport have been reduced as of April 1. It means the service is opening later, closing earlier and there is now no weekend support at all.

St Joesph's Roman Catholic Church (Image: Google Maps) From praising God to downward dog, a former Isle of Wight church could be given a new, relaxing lease of life. St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, on Rectory Road, Niton, has been empty for nearly 15 years after it stopped being used for mass or prayer meetings. Now, after being on the market since September 2015, the building could be returned to community use, primarily as a yoga studio but also available to rent for events.

It is a packed evening in #Ventnor as residents gather to hear updates about things happening in the town - the landslip in Bonchurch, Eastern Esplanade urgent works and Rene Howe Walk. https://t.co/zqzWD0uLeW
