There has been a crash on the A1(M) southbound, close to junction 6. (Image: Google Maps) The A1(M) is closed between junction 7 and 6 southbound following a crash. Police and paramedics are at the scene of the crash, which happened close to the exit slip road at junction 6. An eyewitness, who drove past the scene just after 6pm, said: "It looks like a car has hit the central reservation.

(Image: Airbus) A satellite built in Stevenage to examine the world's forests in order to better understand the carbon cycle and its impact on climate change has launched into space today (Tuesday). The forest-monitoring satellite Biomass was developed, built and tested by Airbus in Stevenage, Friedrichshafen in Germany and Toulouse in France.

Hotel Cromwell has a rich history. The site once belonged to Oliver Cromwell’s secretary of state, John Thurloe, who was also Cromwell's spymaster. After the site was confiscated from Thurloe in 1660, it was reimagined and has been used as many things, until ultimately becoming a hotel in 1925. The Cromwell became the town’s principal hotel and was established as one of the best hotels along the Great North Road. In 2015, The Distinct Group acquired and began running the hotel.

Robert Jones died in a stabbing in Cuffley last week. (Image: Courtesy of Hertfordshire Constabulary) The family of a young man who died in a stabbing in Cuffley have paid tribute to "a soul whose presence lit up every room". Robert Jones, aged 24 and from Northaw, was found with stab wounds in Cattlegate Road in Northaw last Wednesday morning (April 23). He sadly died at the scene.

North Herts Council has approved plans for a shopping arcade in Leys Avenue to be extended and converted into 10 flats, while retaining two commercial units.
