On Thursday in Orlando, Rodriguez was joined by her family and attorneys Phillip and Josephine Arroyo from the Arroyo Law Firm. Videos posted on social media take viewers through the former “Eclipse Social Club,” showing what appears to be slot and other gaming machines. The videos even show the same address listed in court documents where alleged money laundering, illegal lottery and gaming house took place. Investigators say the location was used by Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez and others for illegal profit and that Lopez used his position as sheriff to shield the business from law enforcement.

After Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez was arrested for his involvement in a gambling operation, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Christopher Blackmon will serve as interim sheriff. Blackmon is a 35-year law enforcement veteran and the Central Region Chief for Florida Highway Patrol. Blackmon also serves as FHP’s statewide Immigration Commander. The news of Lopez’s arrest sent shockwaves among local leaders.

St. Cloud residents voiced concerns after the city voted 4 to 1 to annex more than 1,400 homes, including areas like Kings Crest, Edgewater, and Twin Lakes, adding 1,000 acres to city limits. Jessica King, one of the residents, said, "It is disheartening how fast things are changing, and when you learn about it, you can't do anything. We can't, but you guys can."The city stated that many of the annexed homes have already been receiving city services.

As gator mating season in Florida comes to a close, male alligators become more active and territorial, leading to more human encounters. Brandon Fisher, a gator expert, emphasized the need for caution around any body of water in the state, noting that Florida has the largest population of wild alligators in the United States, with an estimated one to two million alligators. In early May, a woman was killed when her canoe passed over an alligator in shallow water at Tiger Creek on Lake Kissimmee.
