Colorado policymakers are closely eyeing the congressional budget debate and will convene into a special session, depending on the contours of any cuts to Medicaid. Gov. Jared Polis noted that the new federal fiscal year starts on Oct. 1, which means budget changes would take effect then. "So, it's quite possible that we will need to make some changes earlier rather than later if drastic federal cuts occur that throw people off of Medicaid or put a big burden on our healthcare providers," he said.
