A new fried chicken restaurant will open in Preston next month, it has been confirmed. MB Chicken, a Canadian-owned restaurant chain, will serve chicken tenders, bone-in chicken, taters and the Big Mary sandwich from its new Miller Arcade site from Thursday, 1 May. The eateries are known as Mary Brown’s in Canada and operate around 300 restaurants. There are MB Chicken sites now open in Northern Ireland London with Preston being their fourth site in the UK.

A man from Preston has been arrested after a chase through the city that ended in a crash on Blackpool Road. Police had signalled for a Toyota Yaris to stop on Pedder Street at around 7.50pm on Monday (23 April). The vehicle failed to stop and was pursued at speed through residential streets, taking what police described as ‘risky manoeuvres’ in an attempt to evade in a chase that lasted over 20 minutes.

Police have released footage of a person they wish to speak with over an incident of vandalism at a church in Leyland. On Good Friday (18 April), the exterior of the St Jamesā Church in Leyland and around 40 gravestones nearby were daubed with offensive graffiti. The attack did not deter the congregation who carried on with their usual services, including a wedding on the Saturday.Ā The local community gathered to help them remove the graffiti in record time.

There were no serious injuries after a crash that saw a car flip onto its side in Penwortham. Emergency services were called to Leyland Road at around 9am this morning (21 April) to reports of a crash. Police found a car on its side and Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service were also called to help make the vehicle safe and move it to the side of the road.

A claim from a Reform UK candidate that a closing care facility in Preston could be used to house asylum seekers is ‘completely unfounded and misleading speculation’, Blog Preston has been told. Luke Parker, who is Reform UK’s candidate for Preston East at the upcoming Lancashire County Council elections, posted to Facebook yesterday (18 April) that he had ‘unconfirmed reports’ the closing Finney House ‘may soon be repurposed to house asylum seekers’ adding that it raised serious questions.
