MEDFORD, Ore. – The Hunter Communications Amateur Athlete of the Week has been a consistent force on the mound for the North Medford Black Tornado baseball team. Meet Dominic Daffron. Daffron has had a stellar start to the season. In his four appearances on the mound this season, he has yet to give up more than three earned runs. He’s thrown two complete games including a nine strikeout outing against Lake Oswego and even gone into extra innings in their game against Aloha.

The Hunter Communications Amateur Athlete of the Week was just named the 5A girls basketball player of the year in Oregon by Sports Illustrated. Meet Taylor Young. Young is often seen sporting a pink scrunchie and she and that scrunchie are everywhere on the court. Whether it was getting steals on defense or shooting buzzer beaters from near half court, Young’s handprint was on every one of the state champion Crater Comets’ 28 wins this season.

OREGON, – Sports Illustrated announced their 2024-25 All-State basketball teams. Boys and girls teams were each divided up into 4A, 5A and 6A. Starting with the 5A girls teams, Crater had three players and a coach selected, including the 5A girls player of the year, Taylor Young. Her guard duo, Sage Winslow also made the first team. Head Coach Amber Lease was named the Coach of the Year and Lydia Traore got an honorable mention nod. For the 6A girls, South Medford Panthers had a trio named to teams.

ASHLAND, Ore. – The Hunter Communications Amateur Athlete of the week was just crowned the Cascade Collegiate Conference softball player of the week after a massive weekend at the plate. Meet Ari Williams. Williams went 7 for 11 in four games against the Providence Argos adding 9 runs batted in. She leads the conference in that statistic with 28 so far this season. Williams continued her success at the plate against the 2nd ranked NAIA softball team in the nation, Oregon Tech, on Wednesday.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Hunter Communications Amateur Athlete of the Week is the 12u Klamath Falls Ice Hawks. The Ice Hawks started their year with mechanical issues at their home ice rink and couldn’t use it right away. That didn’t stop them from putting in work off the ice doing strength and condition workouts. Once their rink was ready, the team conditioned on Mondays, practiced on the ice Tuesday to Thursday and played games on the weekend.
