ANOKA, Minn. — May is Mental Health Awareness Month and a Minnesota nonprofit is expanding its care offerings for those who need it. The LIVIN Foundation, based in Anoka, offers programs, camps and retreats that aim to prevent suicide. Camp LIVIN is for families who lost someone to suicide to connect and find support. Paul Thomas (PT) Hohag, the founder and chairman, visited KARE 11 News at Noon to share his story and the foundation's new offerings.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Planned Parenthood union members responded Wednesday to the news that eight Midwestern clinics will close. The announcement by Planned Parenthood North Central States (PPNCS) on Friday revealed that four Minnesota clinics and four Iowa locations will be shut down due to federal spending cuts. The closings triggered staffing changes resulting in 66 employees being laid off and 37 receiving offers of reassignment over the next year.

More than 37,000 high schoolers will now be eligible for proactive college admissions, meaning that Minnesota colleges and universities will send letters to students based on their academic records.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins are hosting an Autism Awareness Day on Wednesday for kids and families to get used to the stadium experience. The day's events will kick off at 10 a.m. Kids with autism can get familiar with Target Field and do a test run of scanning their tickets, buying concessions and finding their seats, without thousands of noisy fans nearby or the usual ballpark chaos overstimulating them.

ELY, Minn. — The International Wolf Center is howling for joy with the arrival of two pups in Ely. In a news release Tuesday, the center said the two boys were born on April 22 and arrived at the center at the beginning of May. The International Wolf Center is a non-breeding exhibit and always adopts captive-born pups. The boys will make their first public appearance on June 3. Pup-viewing opportunities will take place in 15-minute increments and will be included with the price of admission.
