    LAKE CITY, Ark. (KAIT) - It’s Food Truck Friday! This week, we traveled to Dad’s BBQ. The business sells ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, pork steaks, barbeque nachos, fries, and a list of homemade sides. Dad’s BBQ is veteran and family-owned. The owner, Brett Davis, said his son came up with most of the recipes. Once they had the recipes, they were up and running. Davis served in the U.S. Army and National Guard for a few years before getting into the food truck business.

    HARDY, Ark. (KAIT) - It’s Food Truck Friday! This week, we’re featuring Chapo’s Tacos in Hardy. The food truck, owned by Ariel Housmann, has been operating for the past year at 203 E. Main Street in Hardy. She spent the first part of her life in law enforcement and always wanted to start a food truck. Housmann took a leap, and it worked out. Growing up at her best friend’s house, working at a Mexican restaurant and spending time in Texas inspired her to choose tacos as her focus.

    JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Each month of the school year, we highlight a teacher who is beloved by their students, co-workers, and school. This month, our K8 News Teacher of the Month is Shawn Watson, an English teacher at Nettleton High School. Watson’s class is the one all of the students want to be in. Two of his students spoke about how they never really enjoyed English until they started learning from Watson. TK Johnson used to fall asleep in some of her classes.

    JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - It’s Food Truck Friday! This week, we’re highlighting Kelly’s Soul Food Kitchen & Catering LLC. The food truck serves up soul food with the catchphrase, “come let us bless your soul”. The daily special changes constantly, but the daily menu stays the same. Pork chops, broccoli and cheese, fried okra, corn on the cob, and pork neck bones are consistently on the menu. The food truck is located at 3128 E. Nettleton Avenue in Jonesboro on Tuesday and Thursday.

    TURRELL, Ark. (KAIT) - Federal funding cuts are hitting the wallets of Arkansas farmers and reducing their bottom lines. In early March, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) ended a program that provided a financial partnership between food banks and local farmers. Over a billion dollars was poured into the Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA) program. Those funds were a link between farmers and people needing access to fresh food.
