BALLARD COUNTY, Ky. — A Farragut 8-year-old was hurt after flying debris hit his family's car during severe storms in Kentucky. The White family was traveling to Missouri and planned to stop at the halfway point in Paducah, Kentucky. As storms moved into the area, the family stopped at a local church in Ballard County for shelter but couldn't get inside, family members told WBIR.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Zoo Knoxville has welcomed a new big cat! Jango, a 10-year-old Malayan tiger from Dickerson Park Zoo, was moved to Knoxville to support the critically endangered species. Jango is considered one of the most genetically valuable Malayan tigers in the world. With fewer than 200 remaining in the wild, Zoo Knoxville said Jango's genetics are crucial to maintaining a healthy and diverse population under human care.

WHITE PINE, Tennessee — A White Pine School teacher was arrested for assaulting a 4-year-old, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said. Renee White Murphy, a 60-year-old, was arrested with child abuse and assault, according to JCSO. A school resource officer learned of the alleged assault from the school's staff on Thursday, March 13. A joint investigation by JCSO and the Jefferson County Schools administration resulted in Murphy's arrest, JCSO said.

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — Whataburger, the beloved Texas-based fast food chain, is expanding its footprint in Tennessee with plans for a new location in Crossville. During a city council meeting Tuesday night, it was revealed Whataburger submitted a site plan. The proposed restaurant site is located across from Buc-ee's on Genesis Road. The site plan will head to the planning commission later on in March. In November 2024, the chain announced they are bringing a location to Knoxville and Chattanooga.
