I read the book “Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson in my sophomore year of high school, when I was sixteen. The novel follows Melinda, a thirteen-year old girl and rape survivor, during her freshman year of high school. Though I did not relate to her sexual assault experience, Melinda’s story resonated with me. For me, reading is not just an activity but an adventure.

March 17, 2025 Over spring break, my brother got married in Punta Cana, so I spent a week at a resort with all the family and friends that are closest to me. That sounds great in theory until you factor in that I’m graduating in December and have no plans. I’ve worked a variety of jobs in both journalism and marketing — and now, nonprofits — and I still can’t figure it out. A few weeks ago, I started a job at a nonprofit called Literacy Pittsburgh. The nonprofit provides free English and GED classes to adults in the Pittsburgh area.

Pitt’s Career Center hosted a summer job and volunteer fair on March 27 in the William Pitt Union, where students explored different career opportunities and got to speak with representatives from organizations such as the Pittsburgh Zoo, the Aviary and the Goldfish Swim school. Pitt police assisted Pittsburgh police with the theft of a bicycle at the 3800 block of Bigelow Boulevard. An individual wanted to file a harassment report at Salk Hall. Friday, March 22 Pitt police arrested an individual at the Cathedral of Learning. Pitt police took a harassment by communication report.

I always wanted to travel abroad. I always imagined myself going out of the country visiting different places like Thailand, Greece and Ghana. For a while now, my aunt and grandma have been urging me to obtain my passport simply to have and to be able to travel internationally. I was finally able to get it last year, which I was so excited about.
